CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION
House, a shelter is one of the basic needs of a man. It not only protects us physically, and it also provides us with family love and warmth, supports us emotionally. As a people aged, he needs to face lots of challenges from different aspects. House which acts as a support is playing an important role in leading a man to overcome these challenges.
            However, it is sad to hear that the current housing design are unable to meet the people especially the elders’ needs. Besides, due to the urbanisation of the country, it is common for younger generation to migrate to urban area for the sake of better quality of life. The family bonding is weakened as the relationship are more distant.
            In order to sustain the Asian tradition of multi-generational living, strategies and solutions are being modified to promote this practice as the future housing plan in Malaysia. Pre-survey are being done with different age groups of people to understand their housing aspirations. With the process of analysis and implementation, new multi-generational living proposal is being carried out based on the needs and demands from both older and younger generations.
Strategies in designing multi-generational living is being developed in:
1.    Site and Environmental Planning
2.    Independence Unit Layout Design
Every aspects started from the choice of site location until the construction method in this proposal of multi-generational living are being studied and carried out with the new or innovated solutions. It aims to provide a more comfortable and ideal living place physically, socially, financially and psychologically to the people.
            A post survey is also being done to investigate the feasibility of the new ideas in multi-generational living. As shown in Chart 24, 88 percent of the overall survey respondents agreed that these strategies are able to solve the elders’ housing issues and potentially to be the future housing plan in Malaysia
            Furthermore, as shown in Chart 25, there is also 72 percent of overall survey respondents who will consider to move to this multi-generational residence completed with the proposed strategies and solutions.
            In conclusion, multi-generational living is a future lifestyle in residential development of Malaysia. It is universally-design, it is affordable and feasible, and lastly it is surrounded with love and warmth from family, friends and neighbours. With the development of age-integrated society in Malaysia, every people gets to live independently and peacefully under a comfort environment. As a result, a peaceful developed country is there for all of us, the Malaysians.
